°øÇÐÀû ÀÀ¿ëºÐ¾ß¿¡¼­ÀÇ STAR-CD¿Í °°Àº ¼ÒÇÁÆ®¿þ¾î ½Ã½ºÅÛÀÇ Á߿伺Àº ÀÍÈ÷ ¾Ë·ÁÁ® ÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù. ±×¸®°í ¿ì¸®°¡ À̹ø ±Û¿¡¼­ ´Ù·ê ³»¿ë ¶ÇÇÑ ±âº»ÀûÀÎ À¯µ¿ ¹°¸®ÇÐÀÚµéÀÌ ÀÌÇØÇϱâ À§ÇÑ Áß¿äÇÑ µµ±¸¿¡ ´ëÇÑ ³»¿ëÀÔ´Ï´Ù.

¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¸ñÇ¥´Â ºñ¿ëÀ» ÁÙÀ̰í Wind Turbine¿¡¼­ÀÇ Ãâ·ÂÀ» Áõ°¡½ÃŰ´Â °ÍÀÔ´Ï´Ù. ¿ì¸® ¿¬±¸ÀÇ ÁÖ¸ñÀûÀº TurbineÀÇ È¿À²À» Áß°¡½Ã۱â À§ÇØ Á» ´õ È¿À²ÀûÀ¸·Î ¿¡³ÊÁö¸¦ º¯È¯ÇÏ´Â Static Wing ȤÀº Sail StructureÀÇ È¿°ú¸¦ ÀÌ¿ëÇÏ´Â °ÍÀÔ´Ï´Ù. External Shrouded SystemÀ» »ç¿ëÇϱâ À§ÇØ Áö³­ 10³â°£ ¸¹Àº ½ÃµµµéÀÌ ÀÌ·ç¾îÁ® ¿ÔÁö¸¸, ´ÜÁö ´ë±â¿¡¼­°¡ ¾Æ´Ñ dzµ¿ ½ÇÇè¿¡¼­¸¸ ¼º°øÇÏ¿´½À´Ï´Ù. À̰ÍÀÌ ¿ì¸®°¡ STAR-CD¸¦ »ç¿ëÇÏ´Â ºÐ¸íÇÑ ÀÌÀ¯ÀÔ´Ï´Ù.

Grumman CorporationÀÇ Æ¯Çã¿¡ ±âÃÊÇÏ¿©, °³ÀΠȸ»ç°¡ »ó´çÇÑ ºñ¿ëÀ» µé¿©¼­ PrototypeÀ» ¸¸µé¾ú½À´Ï´Ù. Shroud¸¦ °¡Áø °æ¿ì¿Í °¡ÁöÁö ¾ÊÀº °æ¿ì¿¡¼­ÀÇ Wind Turbine¿¡ ´ëÇÑ STAR-CDÀÇ ¿¬±¸´Â Turbine¿¡¼­ À¯µ¿¿¡ ÀÇÇØ ¹ß»ýµÈ Èû°ú ¿¡³ÊÁö ¹× ¿îµ¿·®ÀÇ Àü´Þ °£ÀÇ »óÈ£°ü°è¸¦ º¸¿©ÁÖ¾ú½À´Ï´Ù. ÁÖ¾îÁø ƯÁ¤ Èû¿¡¼­, ¿¡³ÊÁö Àü´ÞÀº À¯µ¿¼Óµµ°¡ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ¿îµ¿·® Àü´Þ¿¡ ÀÇÁ¸ÇÏ¿´½À´Ï´Ù. °á·ÐÀûÀ¸·Î, Shrouded Wind TurbineÀÇ ÈûÀº Shroud¸¦ °¡ÁöÁö ¾ÊÀº µ¿ÀÏ Turbine¿¡¼­ÀÇ ÀÌ·ÐÀû Á¦ÇÑ(Betz Limit) ÀÌ»ó Áõ°¡ÇÏ´Â °ÍÀÌ °¡´ÉÇÏÁö ¾Ê½À´Ï´Ù. ÀÌ·¯ÇÑ °á°ú·Î, ¼ö¹é¸¸ ´Þ·¯°¡ Prototype Á¦ÀÛ ´Ü°è Àü¿¡ Àý¾àµÇ¾î ÇÁ·ÎÁ§Æ®ÀÇ ¼öÀͼº¿¡ ´ëÇÑ ¸í¹éÇÑ ÀÌÀÍ ¹× ÀüüÀûÀÎ ¼º°øÀ» ÀÌ·ç¾ú½À´Ï´Ù.

±×·¯³ª ¼º°øÀº °Å±â¼­ ¸ØÃßÁö ¾Ê¾Ò½À´Ï´Ù. STAR-CD´Â ÇØ´äÀ» ã´Â °ÍÀ» µµ¿ÍÁÙ ¼ö ÀÖ¾ú½À´Ï´Ù. Past Shrouded SystemÀº Tip-Voltex Drag¸¦ ÃÖ¼ÒÈ­½Ãų ÇÁ·ÎÆç·¯¸¦ ¸¸µé¾î³»¾ú½À´Ï´Ù. ÇÁ·ÎÆç·¯ÀÇ Tip°ú Shroud »çÀÌ¿¡ ¸¹Àº °ø°£ÀÌ ÀÖ´Ù¸é, ±×°ÍÀº ´õ ³ÐÀº ¹ÝÁö¸§ÀÇ ÇÁ·ÎÆç·¯·Î ³ªÀº È¿°ú¸¦ °¡Áý´Ï´Ù. ±×¸² 1Àº µÀ°ú °°Àº Ä¿ºê¸¦ °¡Áø Shroud¿¡ ÀÇÇØ µÑ·¯½×ÀÎ Wind Turbine ¸ðµ¨ ÁßÀÇ Çϳª¸¦ ³ªÅ¸³À´Ï´Ù. ShroudÀÇ Ç¥¸éÀûÀº ȸÀüÇÏ´Â ÇÁ·ÎÆç·¯¿¡ ÀÇÇØ µ¤ÀÎ ¸éÀûº¸´Ù ¾à 3¹è °¡·® Å®´Ï´Ù. ±×¸² 2´Â À¯µ¿ ¹æÇâ¿¡¼­ ¸ðµ¨À» Áö³ª´Â ´Ü¸éÀû¿¡¼­ÀÇ ¼Óµµ¸¦ º¸¿©ÁÝ´Ï´Ù. ÀϹÝÀûÀÎ ½Ã½ºÅÛ°ú´Â ´Ù¸£°Ô, °ø±â´Â Turbine¿¡ µµÂøÇÑ µÚ °¡¼ÓÇÕ´Ï´Ù. ±×¸®°í Static Shroud´Â ½Ã½ºÅÛÀÇ ¿¡³ÊÁö ÃßÃâºÎ¿¡¼­ Áß¿äÇÑ ¿ªÇÒÀ» ÇÕ´Ï´Ù. µû¶ó¼­ ±× À̸§ÀÌ ¡°Partially Static Turbine¡±ÀÔ´Ï´Ù.

Shrouded System¿¡¼­ÀÇ ÀÌ·¯ÇÑ °Å´ëÇÑ ¾Ð·Â °­ÇÏ´Â Mean Axial Velocity°¡ 7.2m/sÀÏ ¶§ °ø±â°¡ ÇÁ·ÎÆç·¯¸¦ Áö³ª°¡´Â µ¿¾È ¹ß»ýÇÕ´Ï´Ù(´ë±â°¡ 5m/sÀÇ ¼Óµµ¸¸À» °¡Áö´Â µ¿¾È) – °ø±âÀÇ ºÎ°¡ÀûÀÎ À¯µ¿ÀÌ »óÈ£ÀÛ¿ëÇÏÁö ¾Ê´Â Unshrouded System ȤÀº Shrouded System¿¡¼­´Â ÀÌ·¯ÇÑ »óȲÀÌ ¿¡³ÊÁö¿Í ¿îµ¿·® º¸Á¸¿¡ ½É°¢ÇÑ ¹æÇذ¡ µË´Ï´Ù.

±×¸² 4´Â Shrouded Wind TurbineÀÇ µ¿·ÂÀ» Unshrouded Design°ú ºñ±³ÇÑ °ÍÀ» ³ªÅ¸³À´Ï´Ù. µ¿·ÂÀÇ ÃÖ°íÄ¡¿¡¼­ÀÇ Áõ°¡´Â 4ÀÇ Factor°ªÀ» °¡Áý´Ï´Ù. µ¿ÀÏÇÑ ¿øÄ¢ÀÌ ¹°¿¡µµ Àû¿ëµË´Ï´Ù. ÁÖ¾îÁø À¯·®¿¡¼­ Kaplan TurbineÀÇ Å©±â¸¦ »ó´çÈ÷ ÁÙÀÏ ¼ö ÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù. ȤÀº ÁÖ¾îÁø TurbineÀÇ Å©±â¿¡¼­´Â ³·Àº À¯·®¿¡¼­ µ¿ÀÏÇÑ µ¿·ÂÀ» ³¾ ¼ö ÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù. ÀÌ·Î ÀÎÇØ ¼ö·Â¹ßÀüÀÇ °¡°ÝÀ» ³·Ãß´Â °Í »Ó¸¸ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ºÎºÐÀûÀ¸·Î Static TurbineÀÌ Å« ´ïÀÌ ÀûÇÕÇÏÁö ¾ÊÀº Àå¼Ò¿¡¼­ Àü·Â »ý»ê½Ã ¼ö·Â¹ßÀüÀ» ´ëüÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ´Â »õ·Î¿î ÀÀ¿ë ºÐ¾ß¿¡µµ Àû¿ëµÊÀ» ¾Ë ¼ö ÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù.

STAR-CD´Â ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô Partially Static System¿¡ ´ëÇÑ ¸¹Àº °ÍÀ» ¾Ë·ÁÁÖ¾ú½À´Ï´Ù. Shrouded DesignÀÇ ÃÖÀûÈ­ ¹× PrototypeÀÇ Á¦ÀÛ¿¡ ´ëÇØ ¹è¿ö¾ß ÇÒ °ÍÀÌ ¾ÆÁ÷ ¸¹½À´Ï´Ù. ¿ì¸®´Â ´ÙÀ½ ´Ü°è·Î ÀÌ ¿¬±¸¸¦ ÁøÀü½Ã۱â À§ÇØ »ê¾÷°èÀÇ ÇÕÀÛ°ú ´Ù¸¥ ¿¬±¸´Üü¿ÍÀÇ ÆÄÆ®³Ê¸¦ ã°í ÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù.
